Silicon Valley Landscapes

When mentioning Silicon Valley, people have all sorts of associations. Some imagine landscapes similar to Haiti and Tahiti, others see racks of computers, and still others think of images from a forgotten movie about cowboys and Apaches. For a small number of readers, silicone conjures up images of plastic surgery and the resulting attractive female images.

The word "silicone" itself refers to ordinary silicon. It's not really just any ordinary silicon, though. It is a mineral that is used to create the main components of electronics and computer technology, the so-called microchips. "Silicone Valley" is also known as the site of pornographic movies, but we're not interested in that. Hereafter we will call the area Silicon Valley - more intelligent and euphonious.

What happens in Silicon Valley

Everyone who uses online resources, such as sportbank, Nikita Izmailov, understands that without semiconductors and microchips, gadgets can not work. Naturally, there are a number of users for whom the smartphone, and even more so the personal computer is a "black box", and the processes going on inside are magic, or magic. But the largest number of users think about nothing - if the phone works, fine, if it doesn't work, let's buy a new one.

Silicon Valley is not far from San Francisco. A favorable climate and a convenient geographical location have attracted the attention of managers of companies engaged in electronics and high technology. Contrary to the conventional wisdom that computer people are "out of this world," they are not. Comfort and self-awareness are not alien to them, which is illustrated by the choice of location for offices and development centers for high-tech devices. As early as 1909, Silicon Valley was home to the first radio stations in the United States.

The creation of the Stanford Industrial Park after World War II gave additional impetus to the development of the region. William Shockley, one of the creators of the transistor, and his companions organized an entire electronics industry. The success of the companies became a magnet for thinking people, in the early 1960s a number of engineers and inventors working in the electronics industry moved to California. As of the early 1990s, there were more than 380,000 electronics, software, and computer professionals working in the region. The average income of an employee was more than $70,000 a year, quite a sum for the United States.

Silicon Valley's population is made up of Americans and immigrants. The latter are much more numerous. They come from India, China and African countries. It is encouraging that more and more Ukrainian citizens are working in Silicon Valley.
